It’s all about being!
The PMI Portugal Conference ART & SCIENCE of PROJECT LEADERSHIP took place on the 12th and 13th October 2023 in Lisbon, and it was enlightening!
We’re privileged to have the facilitation of João Minhota and three amazing speakers.
Walter Ginevri discussed whether Is agile enough, the urgency to simplify in a complex world, to go beyond using agile tools and be agile, to empower each to continuously learn, critically think, and focus on adding value. Walter invited each of us to do a daily self-assessment through the lens of PMI culture vales: Make it easy, Embrace curiosity, Aim higher, Be welcoming, Together we can. What do you want to celebrate? What do you commit to improve?
Marisa Lago de Carvalho invited us to Navigate the complexity of our Ego. Our Ego magnifies our best and worst sides with impact on our decision-making, our behaviors, the relationship we have with ourselves and with others. Marisa discussed the power of negative thoughts, the five levels of listening, the opportunity to move from doing to being and to cultivate being. It is essential leaders create a psychologically safe environment through 5 Cs: be Curious & listen, be Conscious & change yourself, be Compassionate & accept what you can’t change, be Courageous & choose to lead in a way of being, be Creative & inspire others ‘to be’. How are doing regarding the 5Cs?
Rachael Milne discussed the Art & Science of Project Resourcing. Social media and related automation tools play a part in recruitment nowadays, where the professional profile and the network are key. Racheal highlighted the relevance of cultivating and retaining high performing teams. It’s fundamental to have a team charter, built by the team for the team, implement situational leadership, considering confidence and competence and proactively create space for celebration, recognition and growth. What are you planning to celebrate next?
