Projects from the future

This PM Talk will tell the story of the PM kit “Projects from the future” and the outcome of the fruitful collaboration with the PMI Portugal Chapter through the social good program PMI Portugal nas Escolas. In particular, the two presenters will focus their attention on lessons learned by school teachers, students and project professionals involved as volunteers.

A 20th century pedagogue (Bruner, 1971) stated that education couldn’t be confined anymore to the mere passing on of knowledge but should aim higher at teaching to learn. Accordingly, the PMI Northern Italy Chapter (NIC) launched in 2006 a pilot initiative aimed at applying the “project language” in primary schools. A group of teachers, supported by NIC volunteers, carried out some practical trials in school projects involving students aged 6 to 11.
In 2007, these experiences were capitalised in a methodological kit fully compliant with the PMBoK principles and based upon a sequence of seven steps supported by a set of intuitive visual tools.
