She is a frequent speaker at local and international events and she is currently the President of the PMI Northern Italy Chapter.

Bringing structure to turbulent times 

Has more than a decade of experience in the pharmaceutical industry.

She joined Hovione in 2011, starting with Quality Control, where she spent several years managing laboratory teams to maintain high standards of quality and compliance with pharmacopoeia guidelines and GMP practices. During this period, she went through different areas of specialization, from Microbiology to Chromatography.

Since 2016, she works as a Project Manager within PMO, being currently responsible for portfolio management and standardization of project management processes at Hovione in accordance with PMI best practices.
Mónica is also responsible for coordinating the Preparation Committee (PrepCom), a multifunctional COVID-19 response team created to prepare the company to deal with this crisis.

She holds a degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from NOVA University Lisbon, a Post-Graduation in Integrated Management Systems for Quality, Environment and Safety from TUV Rheinland and an Executive Education in Advanced Program in Project Management and Evaluation from the Católica Lisbon School of Business and Economics.

Comprehensive Project Management track record, within a Business Consulting environment for 6 years, focusing on business strategy development and implementation and in the optimization of operations, with more than 30 engagements in energy, finance, public sector and several other industries.

Over 10 years multicultural experience working as a scientific researcher and academic at top Universities in a global environment. Has a DPhil (PhD) in Physics, from the University of Oxford, UK.. Accumulates more than 20 original works in scientific refereed journals during a 10 years academic career at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley, US), University of Edinburgh (UK) and Instituto Superior Técnico (Portugal). Developed experience in managing international collaborations in a scientific context.

Holds a Master in Business Administration, from AESE, Escola de Direcção e Negócios/ IESE Business School, University of Navarra.

Over 25 years multicultural experience working at leading Universities and Industries in a global environment.

Has a European PhD in Animal Physiology, from the University of Claude Bernard,  Lyon, France. 

Has extensive experience and knowledge of Research and Development, Project Management and Line Management, within Snackfood, Petfood and Chemical-Pharmaceutical industries.

At Hovione, led the development of a global customer-oriented team of project managers and the implementation of a structured methodology, aligned to PMI®.

Managed the alliance with key partners and a diversity of corporate projects and programs, including transformational endeavors. 

Is currently responsible for Supply Chain, including PMO.

Passionate about Project Management, its value added in terms of the journey and the results as well as the ability to contribute to develop and consolidate competencies.

PMI PT volunteer responsible of Tutoring within PMI Portugal at schools’ program. PMI PT volunteer of the year in 2019.
